When it comes to Medicare Advantage Plans, there will be some research required as each county and medical group may have slightly different plan designs. However, he will easily be able to distinguish which plans may be more suitable for your needs based off asking you a few questions and reviewing the plans with you.
We understand you may be anxious about starting the contacting us for advice. A simple 5-10 minute conversation will get you on track– pointing you in the right direction. It will also give you an opportunity to meet John and speak with him about his experience in the Medicare insurance field.
Mentoring California Medicare beneficiaries.
John, principal and broker, of Mentor One Insurance and, creator and developer, of MedicareSupplementMentor.com has implemented thousands of plans for his clients. From San Diego to Sacramento, John has helped clients in Medicare Supplement Plans and Medicare Advantage Plans. From the Bay Area to Sacramento, he’s worked with the majority of his clients in-person being that it’s close to the home office in Sacramento, CA. Regardless of where you live in California, contact us and see why John has been a top producing California Medicare Broker.
Consequently, John’s experience as a California Medicare broker with Medicare plans throughout California has given him the ability to simplify plans for his clients as he’s experienced helping clients in every plan type, with dozens of insurers and managed them year to year. More importantly, he can communicate exactly what the plans are, quote them independently, and explain how they function in a straightforward, simplified manner. Transparency is key!
Of course, as your “Medicare Supplement Mentor”, we specialize in California Medicare Supplement Plans. However, we also specialize in comparing Supplement Plans in California to Medicare Advantage plans as well. This gives our clients more clarity on which plan type is best for them as well as the ability to choose their insurance company and enroll through us.
As independent Medicare brokers, we specialize in providing clients choices when it comes to Medicare Plans throughout California. Remember, all of the California Supplement Plans are standardized. We simply shop the available insurance carriers, their plan rates, and provide you quotes in a pressure-free environment.
You let us know what you want to review, and we will present any of the plans to you in an objective manner. Although we are California Medicare brokers, we do not charge any form of a broker fee. The insurance companies pay us directly. This is based on the plan you choose and the monthly cost of that plan. The monthly insurance premiums are 100% the same a going direct to the insurance company’s call center. Hence, no mark up or broker fee on any product ever! Equally important, we disclose our compensation and commission for the products we implement for our clients. Just ask!
In addition to Medicare Supplement Plans, we offer advice on California Medicare Prescription Drug Plans. These Part D plans are typically added to your Original Medicare. In contrast to Medicare Supplement Plans, Part D Drug plans are not standardized. Therefore, we need to do a little more analysis to find the plan that is best for your medication list and coverage needs. In 2024, they are 22 different Part D plans in California. Also, remember, these plans are subject to change each year. We will help you shop and compare Medicare drug plans when you start Medicare with your Initial Enrollment Period IEP. More specifically, provide annual support to review and transition Part D plan as needed during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP).
The AEP is often referred to as the “Open Enrollment Period” as well. I prefer to use more accurate term of Annual Enrollment Period, as opposed to “open” as is somewhat misleading. Being that this window is not open to move from a Medicare Advantage plan to a Medicare Supplement Plan with guaranteed-issue (no health questions asked) after the first year within a Part C Plan, I do not feel it accurately reflects the window as being “open” for clients to move freely among all Medicare plans. As for Part C to Part C plans or Part D to Part D plans, it is in fact “open” to moving these plans.
Now, let’s discuss your California Advantage Plan options. These plans tend to be more common in service areas with dense populations such as Sacramento and south, such as the Bay Area or Los Angeles (i.e. Butter County has 5 MA plans and Sacramento County has 30 MA plans in 2023). More specifically, in urban areas and surrounding areas that have multiple large medical groups offering extensive physician/provider networks. In contrast to larger networked urban areas, in 2024, there is one Medicare Advantage Plans PPO available in Butte County (Chico, Ca). Over the years, the number of Medicare Advantage Plans in Butte County has varied year to year. At times there has been no Medicare Advantage Plan available due to plan cancellations. Accordingly, as I’ve stated many times on this site, these plans can change, move, and/or cancel on an annual basis. Fortunately, when Medicare Advantage Plans leave areas, the clients are granted SEP guaranteed-issue rights to a new Medicare Supplement Plan the day the their Medicare Advantage Plan leaves or cancels (December 31st).
The availability of these Medicare Advantage Plans will depend on your county (service area) and often will subject you to choosing which medical group or network you want to be part of. Call us for a quote or review our educational approach to comparing Medicare Advantage Plans in our menu above.
Again, we thank you for trusting John and the Mentor One team with your Medicare plan. We look forward to building our relationship with you as your California Medicare broker.
